Are the fingerprints on my fingers unique? Does anyone else have the same patterns that I have?
Signed, Eduardo

Dear Eduardo:

No way! Fingerprints are caused by raised ridges of skin on your fingertips which form unique patterns. Like snowflakes, no two patterns are exactly the same. However, there are four general kinds of patterns: Arch, Loops, Whorl, Composite.

If you want to check out your own fingerprints, it's easy. Press a finger onto a washable inkpad and then slowly press your inky finger onto a sheet of paper. Fingerprints are just another way in which each and every one of you humans is unique!

Signed,

Wendell
