Dear Alicia:
Think of all those wonderfully and gushy liquids and solids inside of you. What keeps them inside?
Skin! It's only about 1/16 of an inch thick but it's the coating that keeps the inside in and the
outside -- like germs -- out. You might have thought skin was just plain gift wrap but it's a lot
more. Alicia, skin is downright cool! Skin is waterproof enough to keep water from getting in but
porous enough to allow you to sweat to keep cool. It's tough but flexible enough that you can move;
it can renew and repair itself, and it can manufacture its own vitamins to keep you healthy. Not
bad, eh?
Signed,
Wendell
