Madagascar Hissing Cockroach
(scientific name: Grophadorhina portentosa)
This cool-looking roach lives in Madagascar, one of the worlds largest island
countries just east of the continent of Africa.
Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches are very large. They are famous for their hissing sounds and
live near river banks and around logs.
My friend Felix (pictured here) is a typical Madagascar Hissing Cockroach; when I stopped in
to visit, he hissed for five minutes, then we enjoyed a nice meal of bananas and mangoes together.
