Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Even if you're vacationing in the Caribbean this winter, you can still make it snow...with a snow globe! Just follow these simple steps:

  • a clear empty jar (a jelly jar will do)
  • mineral oil
  • crushed egg shells (Be sure they're removed from a hard-boiled egg and no longer have a thin, sticky membrane on one side.)
  • glue gun, or any glue that's not oil-based and won't dissolve in oil
  • little figurines, bits of costume jewelry, and other doo-dads
  1. Glue your goodies and figurines to the underside of the jar's lid. Then add the mineral oil and crushed egg shells (the oil acts as the snow globe's atmosphere, the egg shells as snowflakes) to the empty jar.

  2. Put the lid back on (and be extra sure that's it's on real tight, or else you'll have an oil slick on your hands)! Turn your snow globe upside-down, shake it all around, and watch the snow fall!
