Wash down those peas & rice and add punch to your party with mulled apple cider! This
special holiday drink comes to us from medieval Europe and is sure to warm the hearts of royalty
and wandering minstrels alike at your home!
What you'll need:
- 3 quarts of fresh apple cider or pear juice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 7 sticks cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon finely crushed dried sweet basil
What to do:
- In a large pot, heat and gently simmer the juice with nutmeg, thyme, ginger, and cinnamon
sticks.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks and break them into pieces. Place a piece into each guest's cup.
Then pour on the warmed cider.
- Sprinkle a bit of sweet basil on top of each serving. Enjoy!
